Class - Small Business Creation - Journal Reflection- Week 3 – Due Diligence

Business Models – This is a guideline to how you should run a business. I like this because it means you are able to change it on the fly when need be. Decision Making - I really like the decision matrix. I like if I am stuck on a decision and have 2 or more options that I can lay out the pros and cons together in a spreadsheet and choose the best one based on numbers. Financial Statements – I am learning that these are great tools to see have well your business is doing in the past and in the future. Spreadsheets are amazing. Internal & External Analysis Tools (i.e. Google Trends, IBIS World, BizMiner)- I don’t have an option one way or another on this as we could not access these tools. Networking – As it has been said in the past, “It isn’t what you know, it’s who you know.”   Meaning if you don’t know how to fix it or the answer someone in your network or their network will.   My favorite one out of all of these is Networking. Progress No matter How Small or Slow is Still Progress

5 May 2025 Handed out 5 business cards out to a friend of mine today. Hopefully, she will buy my book and hand out my business cards to people. I picked up a short term client over the weekend. So things are picking up for my business. I also reached out to my friend who let me borrow her nice flatbed Scanner for getting my own Family History stuff digitized and my clients things as well. I will give it back to her when I buy my own and that probably won’t be until next year. I have to make a profit this year to keep the IRS off my back. I also got my ad sent off to the Wallsburg Newspaper. So that’s why should be out in June. Was brave and handed out another business card to someone and Physically Therapy.

Responses from both Roots Tech and Little Valley Dispatch Newspaper

I was able to get the ad in for my business for Roots Tech Newsletters. They will tell me what month they will have me highlighted in. I am excited about this and the exposer will be amazing. Thousands of people around the world will see these Newsletters. I was also able to get my ad and article sent into Little Valley Dispatch (Wallsburg's Newspaper) today. They gave me a discount on my ad for the article and I am all for it. (2'' by 2" ad was $25 and they dropped it to $20). This article should come out in June. I also got a short term client today to help her find some places to visit back East for her trip in a couple of weeks. She wants to find some of the places her ancestor's lived and were buried.  She wants to do 5 hours tops.  I am so excited to get my business going more this Summer. My friend told me go work for yourself as hard as you work for other people and you will be sitting pretty.
