Week Three: Honesty & Business Ethics
I was very intrigued by the Case Study of Magdalena Yesil. Magdalena is so inspiring for a woman who is trying to get my start up company of the ground.
What stood out to me the most was that Magdalena did get formal education and then she self-taught herself the rest of her life. She never stopped learning or trying to improve herself. This made her a very sought after person in her field. She found her niche in life and capitalized on it.
I have decided that Magdalena is one of the people I will look up to for the rest of my life. I would love to meet her on the other side of the veil someday and just talk about her life. I will continue to research her life for the rest of my life.
I also really enjoyed Sister Sheri Dew’s talk “True Blue, Through and Through” in this week’s readings.
While I was reading her talk something hit me hard, you just can’t be honest. You must have integrity and transparency with your honesty.
I took this to mean you cannot be one person at work and another at home. You need to be the same person in every aspect of your life. Especially in today’s social media world. If there is a secret, you are trying to hide it will come out eventually.
So, it is best to not have a secret to hide to live up to your own personal beliefs and core values all the time. That way you will not have to wear so many masks in your life.
I have strived to live this way since I was about middle school age. What you see is what you get with me. It takes too much time and energy to pretend I am someone else in different circumstances of my life. I do not have time to be fake.
